Beavis

Beavis is a fictional character created by animator and writer Mike Judge, best known as one half of the American animated duo Beavis and Butt-Head. He first appeared in the 1992 short Frog Baseball, part of MTV’s Liquid Television, and later became a central figure in the Beavis and Butt-Head television series that began airing on MTV in 1993.

Beavis is typically portrayed as a teenage boy with a high-energy, impulsive personality and a distinctive, high-pitched laugh. He is often depicted engaging in immature or reckless behavior and frequently misinterpreting popular culture. The character is defined by his close but contentious friendship with Butt-Head, with the two serving as a contrasting yet cohesive pair whose interactions drive much of the humor in the series. Beavis is also known for his alter ego, Cornholio, a hyperactive persona that emerges after he consumes caffeine and sugar; as Cornholio, he pulls his shirt over his head and speaks in a frantic, exaggerated voice, famously declaring, “I am Cornholio, I need TP for my bunghole.”

The Beavis and Butt-Head franchise expanded beyond television to include a feature film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America (1996). The characters have remained culturally recognizable through reruns, merchandise, and various media appearances, including a 2022 feature film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, released on Paramount+. Beavis’s reception has ranged from acclaim for its satirical take on youth culture to criticism over the show’s crude humor and behavior. The character remains a notable example of 1990s animation that influenced later adult animation and meme culture.
