BaxG
BaxG is a protein encoded by the BAX gene in humans. It is a member of the BCL2 gene family, a group of proteins that regulate apoptosis, or programmed cell death. BaxG is known to promote apoptosis. It functions by interacting with other BCL2 family proteins, specifically those that inhibit apoptosis, such as BCL2 itself and BCLXL. BaxG can form heterodimers with these anti-apoptotic proteins, thereby neutralizing their function and allowing apoptosis to proceed.
The BaxG protein is primarily found in the cytoplasm and can translocate to the mitochondria in response
The expression and activity of BaxG are tightly regulated. Its activity can be influenced by post-translational
