Batchfabricage is a manufacturing method where items are produced in distinct groups or batches. Each batch undergoes specific manufacturing steps sequentially before moving on to the next stage. This contrasts with continuous manufacturing, where production runs without interruption. In batchfabricage, a set quantity of a product is made, then the production line might be reconfigured or cleaned before the next batch, potentially of a different product, is manufactured.

This approach is often used when product variety is high or when production volumes are moderate. It allows for flexibility in manufacturing different items on the same equipment. However, it can lead to longer lead times and higher work-in-progress inventory compared to continuous processes.
