Baselineaikataulu

Baselineaikataulu is a project management term describing the approved, time-based plan that serves as the reference for scheduling and progress tracking. It is created during project planning and approved by stakeholders. The baseline captures the planned start and finish dates for tasks, durations, sequencing, dependencies, resource assignments, milestones, and calendar constraints. It provides a stable reference point against which actual progress and forecasts are measured.

The baseline can be used to calculate schedule variance (SV) and schedule performance index (SPI), and to support earned value management. Deviations from baseline are analyzed to determine whether corrective actions are needed. Any formal changes to the scope or constraints usually require a change control process, after which a new baseline may be established (re-baselining) to reflect approved modifications.

Baseline management involves versioning and documentation, including the date of approval, responsible authority, and rationale for changes. It distinguishes between the baseline (the plan) and the forecast of the remaining work, which may adjust as reality unfolds.

Baselineaikataulu is commonly applied in construction, software development, and engineering projects, where clear schedules enable governance, reporting, and performance management. Limitations include the risk that a rigid baseline can discourage necessary adaptation; therefore baselines should be revised through formal processes to reflect approved changes.
