Barvot

Barvot is a rural municipality and parish in the Barvot Valley of the fictional Veridian nation. It covers about 24 square kilometers and lies at 200–450 meters above sea level. As of 2020, the population was roughly 2,800, with a density near 120 inhabitants per square kilometer. The settlement functions as an agricultural hub for the surrounding countryside.

Barvot's name likely derives from a local dialect word meaning "hill meadow" or from early medieval personal names. The landscape is rolling pastureland with small woodlands, and the Barandor River forms part of the northern boundary. The climate is temperate, with mild summers and cool winters, and about 700 millimeters of annual precipitation.

Barvot's roots go back to the medieval period, when a fortified manor stood on higher ground above the valley. The settlement grew through feudal ownership before being integrated into the Veridian state in the late 18th century. The 19th and 20th centuries brought improvements in drainage, roads, and education.

Traditional agriculture remains Barvot's economic backbone, with cereals, vineyards, and dairy products prominent. Small crafts and local services support the community. The annual Harvest Festival, held in late September, features farmer markets, folk music, and regional cuisine. The municipality supports sustainable farming and initiatives in rural tourism.

Barvot is governed by an elected municipal council. Local services include a primary school, a small health clinic, and a public library. Public transport is limited but connects to larger towns via regional roads and a rail link about 18 kilometers away. The nearest hospital is in the regional capital, 28 kilometers distant.
