Baratheons

The Baratheons are a noble house in the fictional world of George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series and its television adaptation, Game of Thrones. They are one of the Great Houses of Westeros, ruling the Stormlands from their ancestral seat, Storm's End.

The Baratheon sigil is a crowned black stag on a field of gold, and their words are "Ours Is the Fury." The house was founded by Orys Baratheon, a bastard half-brother of Aegon the Conqueror, who defeated and killed the last Storm King, Argilac the Arrogant, to establish his own dynasty.

The most prominent members of the house are Robert Baratheon, who served as King of the Seven Kingdoms following a rebellion against the Targaryens, and his younger brothers, Stannis and Renly Baratheon, both of whom vied for the throne after Robert's death. The house is known for its martial prowess and their fiery tempers. Their lineage has been marked by both great power and tragic downfall. The main line of the Baratheon family died out during the War of the Five Kings, but cadet branches and descendants through marriage continued to play significant roles in Westerosi politics.
