Ballandpield

Ballandpield is a team sport played on a rectangular pitch between two teams. The object is to score points by getting the ball into the opponent's goal. The ball is a spherical object about the size of a large handball. Players may advance the ball by kicking, throwing, or bouncing; dribbling is allowed by bouncing the ball on the ground.

Each team fields up to 11 players; matches typically last two halves of 25–30 minutes. Goals are scored by the ball crossing the goal line between the posts under the crossbar. The team with the most goals wins; most competitions award a draw if tied.

Rules include a goalkeeper restricted to the penalty area who may handle the ball; other players may not touch the ball with their hands except to catch or throw within certain circumstances. Fouls result in free kicks, penalties, or disciplinary sanctions.

Ballandpield originated in Eldmere in the early 2010s; the International Ballandpield Association (IBA) was founded in 2012 to standardize rules and promote the sport. The World Cup is the premier international tournament, held every four years since 2016; regional leagues and national championships are common in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The sport emphasizes speed, passing accuracy, and spatial awareness more than physical contact. Etymology: "ball" plus "pield," a historical spelling of "field" used in some regional dialects, reflecting the sport's field-based play.

Variants exist, including beachballandpield played on sand and indoor versions played on a court.
