BTR82A

BTR82A is a Russian armored personnel carrier (APC) developed by the Ural Vehicle Plant (Uralvagonzavod) and introduced in the early 2000s. It is an upgraded version of the BTR-80 series, designed to enhance mobility, protection, and firepower for infantry support and combat operations. The BTR82A is primarily used by the Russian Armed Forces and has been exported to several other countries.

The vehicle has a 8x8 wheeled configuration, providing high mobility across varied terrains. Its hull is made from welded aluminum alloy armor, offering protection against small arms fire and shrapnel, with additional options for modular armor kits to improve survivability against higher-caliber threats. The BTR82A measures approximately 7.2 meters in length, 2.5 meters in width, and 2.3 meters in height, with a weight around 14 tons.

The vehicle is equipped with a 2V-06-2A turbocharged diesel engine, delivering approximately 350 horsepower, enabling a top speed of about 100 km/h on paved roads and an operational range of approximately 600 km. It features a hydropneumatic suspension system that enhances ride quality and cross-country capability.

The BTR82A's armament includes a remotely operated 2A72 30mm autocannon, a 7.62mm PKT coaxial machine gun, and anti-tank missile systems such as the Kornet or Ataka. This armament configuration provides a balance of infantry support, anti-armor, and air-defense capabilities.
