This interface is the first software that runs when a computer is powered on, before the operating system loads. It's responsible for initializing hardware components and providing a bridge between the hardware and the operating system.

Accessing the BIOS/UEFI interface typically involves pressing a specific key during the boot process, such as Delete, F2, F10, or F12, depending on the computer's manufacturer. Once entered, users are presented with a menu-driven or graphical interface that allows them to configure various system settings.

Key functionalities include setting the system date and time, selecting the boot order (which device the computer should attempt to load the operating system from first, like a hard drive, SSD, or USB drive), configuring CPU and memory settings, enabling or disabling onboard devices, and managing security features like passwords. UEFI offers more advanced features than traditional BIOS, including support for larger hard drives, faster boot times, and a more user-friendly graphical interface with mouse support. The settings configured within the BIOS/UEFI interface are stored in non-volatile memory, meaning they persist even when the computer is turned off.
