Azaths

Azaths are a fictional species originating from the Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft. They are described as monstrous entities, often depicted as having a limbless, slug-like or amorphous body, sometimes with multiple eyes or mouths. Their exact form can vary in descriptions, contributing to their alien and unsettling nature. Azaths are associated with the Outer Gods and other cosmic horrors, serving as their servants or minions. They are rarely encountered directly, and when they are, it is typically in their masters' domains or during horrific rituals.

The concept of Azaths is not extensively detailed by Lovecraft himself but has been expanded upon by subsequent authors within the Cthulhu Mythos. They represent a lesser tier of cosmic horror compared to the Great Old Ones or Outer Gods, yet they are still immensely powerful and terrifying to mortals. Their presence often signifies impending doom or the influence of more powerful, incomprehensible beings. Encounters with Azaths are typically brief and invariably lead to madness or death for any human witnesses.
