Avibirnavirus is a genus of viruses in the family Birnaviridae. Viruses in this genus primarily infect birds. The most well-known species within this genus is Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV), which causes a significant disease in poultry. Avibirnaviruses are non-enveloped viruses with a segmented double-stranded RNA genome. This genetic material is divided into two segments, designated as Segment A and Segment B.
