Avainpesälukkoja

Avainpesälukkoja, also known as mortise locks, are a type of lock mechanism that is installed into a pocket or cavity within the edge of a door. Unlike rim locks, which are mounted on the surface of the door, avainpesälukkoja are recessed into the door material. This integrated design provides a cleaner aesthetic and can offer enhanced security due to its less exposed nature.

The basic function of an avainpesälukko involves a bolt or latch that extends from the lock body into a strike plate, typically on the door frame, securing the door. The mechanism is operated by a key, which turns a cylinder and retracts or extends the bolt.
