Autoetnografia
Autoetnografia is a qualitative research methodology that involves the systematic study of oneself and one's own experiences within a social and cultural context. It is a form of self-narrative that places the researcher in the center of the inquiry, using their personal experiences as the primary data source. The researcher is both the subject and the object of study, analyzing their own life, memories, and feelings to understand broader cultural phenomena. This approach aims to make the familiar strange and to illuminate the connections between personal experience and social life. Autoetnographic research often seeks to evoke an emotional response in the reader and to offer rich, detailed descriptions of lived experiences. It is a method that can be used across various disciplines, including sociology, anthropology, communication studies, and education, to explore topics such as identity, belonging, social justice, and cultural practices. The process involves rigorous reflection, analysis, and often creative writing to produce an account that is both personal and analytically grounded. It requires the researcher to be deeply self-aware and critically engage with their own biases and assumptions.
