AustroFinnic
AustroFinnic, also spelled Austro-Finnic, is a historical and somewhat contested name for a proposed internal subgroup within the Finnic branch of the Uralic language family. The term reflects a geographic conception, traditionally associated with Finnic languages spoken in the western and southern Baltic region. In older and some intermediate classifications, AustroFinnic is said to include Finnish, Estonian, Karelian, Veps, Livonian, Ingrian, South Estonian varieties, and related western Finnic varieties.
