Austrias

Austrias is not a current political designation. In English and in some historical or scholarly writings, the term may be used as a plural reference to Austria as a collection of territories, or as a Latinized form found in older sources describing the lands ruled by the House of Habsburg.

Historically, discussions of the Austrian lands within the Holy Roman Empire and later the Habsburg Monarchy sometimes distinguish two broad groupings—Inner Austria and Outer Austria. These divisions reflected geographic distribution and political administration rather than a single administrative unit, and they encompassed a number of duchies, counties, and ecclesiastical territories that formed the Habsburg domain beyond the core Archduchy around Vienna.

In modern usage, Austria refers to the contemporary nation-state established in the 20th century. The plural Austrias is rarely used outside historical or linguistic contexts and is typically encountered when discussing the historical lands associated with Austria or the Habsburgs rather than a present-day polity.
