Atmospherecontrolled is an adjective used to describe a system, process, or environment in which the atmospheric conditions—such as gas composition, pressure, humidity, and temperature—are actively managed to a predefined state by a control system. The concept encompasses the regulation of both interior atmospheres and ambient environments in which the atmosphere influences outcomes, safety, or quality. While not yet a standardized term in all fields, atmospherecontrolled builds on established ideas of atmosphere control and controlled-atmosphere storage and engineering.

Key components of atmospherecontrolled systems typically include sensors to monitor gas concentrations, pressure, temperature, and humidity; actuators such as valves, compressors, pumps, scrubbers, humidifiers, and gas injectors; and a control layer that uses feedback—often employing PID or model predictive control—to maintain target conditions. Data from sensors, sometimes augmented with external inputs, informs real-time adjustments to maintain stability or achieve specific process goals. Safety interlocks and redundancy are common features in critical applications.

Applications of atmospherecontrolled technology span several domains. In industry, it supports controlled-atmosphere storage and packaging, where altered gas blends and reduced oxygen slow spoilage. In agriculture and horticulture, atmospherecontrolled environments optimize plant growth and post-harvest quality. In aerospace, submarines, and life-support systems, it helps maintain breathable, stable atmospheres. Laboratories, cleanrooms, and certain manufacturing processes also rely on atmosphere control to ensure repeatability and safety.
