Assimilability
Assimilability refers to the degree to which a substance, concept, or individual can be integrated or absorbed into an existing system or group. In a biological context, it describes how well a nutrient or foreign body can be processed and incorporated by an organism's metabolism. For instance, certain food compounds are more assimilable than others, meaning they are more readily broken down and utilized for energy or growth. Similarly, when discussing microorganisms, assimilability pertains to their ability to use available nutrients or to be incorporated into a host's environment.
Beyond biology, assimilability can be applied to social and cultural phenomena. It describes the ease with
