Aspirinsyntesen

Aspirinsyntesen, also known as acetylsalicylic acid synthesis, is the chemical process used to produce aspirin, a widely used medication for pain relief, fever reduction, and inflammation reduction. The synthesis involves the acetylation of salicylic acid, a compound derived from willow bark, to form acetylsalicylic acid.

The process begins with the extraction of salicylic acid from willow bark or its synthesis from salicylic aldehyde. The extracted or synthesized salicylic acid is then reacted with acetic anhydride in the presence of a catalyst, typically sulfuric acid, to form acetylsalicylic acid.
