Assessments are carried out by authorities such as the national heritage agency, municipalities, and other cultural heritage professionals, and they feed into land-use planning and conservation policies.

Protection and management: While arvokohde itself may not be a formal legal category in every jurisdiction, assets that are designated as arvokohteet may be subject to protective measures under national or local heritage laws.
