Arvoarvoja

Arvoarvoja is a term encountered in axiology and sociocultural analysis to denote the set of value commitments that a person, organization, or society regards as most important for guiding judgment and action. The concept is used to capture the idea that value systems are not a single, static priority but a structured constellation of interrelated values whose relative importance may vary across contexts and over time.

Etymology and scope: The construction combines arvo, Finnish for “value,” with a plural-form element arvoja used in some Finnish analytical writings to emphasize multiple core values. In this usage, arvoarvoja are distinguished from instrumental values (means to ends) and from norms that may shift due to circumstance. The term is typically employed in discussions of value hierarchies, normative theory, and cultural analysis.

Methodology and analysis: Researchers identify arvoarvoja through qualitative interviews, discourse analysis, and value-mapping techniques.
