Arubas

Arubas is a fictional archipelago used as a setting in speculative fiction and worldbuilding. The Aruban Islands form a chain in the eastern Caribbean, characterized by varied coastlines, dense vegetation, and coral reefs. The term refers to the collection of inhabited and uninhabited islands that share historical trade routes and ecological zones.

Geography and environment: The archipelago comprises five principal islands—Valis, Nara, Canto, Jaro, and Lumé—plus numerous smaller islets. The terrain includes limestone karst, tropical forests, mangroves, and beaches. The climate is tropical, with a wet season and a dry season; surrounding waters host extensive coral reefs.

History: The Arubas were inhabited by Arawan-speaking communities before European contact. In the 16th and 17th centuries, successive powers vied for control, leaving a layered cultural heritage. The archipelago achieved partial autonomy in the mid-20th century and full sovereignty through a peaceful settlement in 1977.
