Arria
Arria is a Latin feminine given name and, occasionally, a surname. The best known bearer is Arria Paeta, wife of Caecina Paetus, a Roman senator of the early Empire. In Tacitus' accounts, Arria is celebrated for her stoic courage when her husband faced execution by suicide. She is said to have urged him to die with dignity and, by example, demonstrated composure; later traditions sometimes quote the maxim Paete, non dolet, though the exact phrasing varies.
