Arosa

Arosa is a municipality and a popular tourist resort in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Situated in the valley of the Schanfigg, it is located about 30 kilometers east of Chur. Arosa is known for its stunning alpine scenery and its extensive recreational opportunities, particularly in winter.

The village itself is nestled at an altitude of around 1,800 meters above sea level. Its history as a health resort dates back to the late 19th century, with sanatoriums established for tuberculosis patients, leveraging the clean mountain air. Over time, Arosa transitioned into a prominent winter sports destination.

In terms of tourism, Arosa offers a wide array of activities. During the winter months, it is a popular ski resort with numerous pistes catering to all skill levels, connected by a modern lift system. Snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and winter hiking are also widely enjoyed. The frozen Lake Obersee in the center of the village becomes a picturesque ice-skating rink.

Summertime in Arosa transforms the landscape into a hiker's paradise. Extensive networks of walking and mountain biking trails wind through the surrounding peaks and valleys, offering breathtaking views. Activities like paragliding, summer tobogganing, and boat trips on the lake are also available. The town boasts a charming village center with shops, restaurants, and hotels. Arosa's accessibility is primarily via the scenic Rhaetian Railway line from Chur.
