Argens

Argens is a commune located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. It belongs to the Alpes-Maritimes department. The commune covers an area of approximately 11 square kilometers. As of the 2015 census, it had a population of about 1,300 residents.

The name "Argens" is derived from the Occitan language, where it is spelled "Argen", meaning "river of silver". This refers to the nearby Argens River, also known as the Argens river in the medieval period, which runs through the commune. The river eventually flows into the Montalverne, Gorges of the Argens river in France.

In terms of geography, Argens is situated on the French Riviera, making it a part of the Mediterranean coastal region. The commune boasts diverse scenery, including Mediterranean scrublands, limestone mountains, and the aforementioned river valley.
