Arfi

Arfi is a term with multiple, unrelated uses. In onomastics it can function as a given name or surname in several linguistic and cultural contexts, with meanings and origins that vary by language. The spelling arfi is less common than nearby variants, and there is no single, universally recognized origin. In practice, it may appear in personal names, brand names, or transliterations, and its interpretation depends on local naming conventions.

ARFI stands for Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse in ultrasound elastography. This imaging method applies a short, focused acoustic push to tissue and measures the speed of the resulting shear waves to estimate tissue stiffness. It is used chiefly to assess liver fibrosis and to help characterize other organs and lesions. ARFI can be implemented within standard ultrasound platforms and provides real-time, noninvasive measurements.

Clinical use in ARFI is subject to several limitations: obesity, acute inflammation, and technical factors can affect accuracy; results are typically combined with conventional ultrasound findings and other elastography methods.
