Arenzukavad

Arenzukavad is a fictional coastal region located in the northern archipelago of Nareth, created for world-building and storytelling. It comprises several islands, with Arenza as the largest, accompanied by Miruyn and Kolea. The terrain is diverse, including volcanic highlands, limestone coastlines, and wide mangrove deltas, and the region's main port and administrative center is Kendir, on Arenza’s western shore.

The name Arenzukavad is said to derive from the Arenzu sea route and a local term meaning “meeting place,” reflecting the area’s historical role as a crossroads for seafarers and traders. The climate is tropical to subtropical, featuring distinct wet and dry seasons, which shape agricultural and fishing cycles across the islands.

Historically, Arenzukavad developed from a patchwork of fishing villages and inland settlements that traded with neighboring regions. A centralized council emerged in the late medieval period, followed by a regional confederacy that governed inter-island affairs. In modern lore, Arenzukavad maintains substantial autonomy within a larger federation while retaining its own courts and customary laws.

Economically, the region relies on a mix of fisheries, sea farming, timber and resin from coastal forests, and cross-island trade. Traditional crafts include weaving, metalwork, and boat-building. Cultural life centers on kinship networks, seasonal festivals, and maritime rituals such as the Tide Ceremony, which marks initiation into the seafaring guilds.

As of the latest fictional census, Arenzukavad is home to roughly a million residents, with Kendir as the political and economic hub.
