Apurekisteri

Apurekisteri is a subset of a population register in Finnish law, a type of public database that contains information on Finnish residents. More specifically, an Apurekisteri contains the names of individuals who are no longer residents in Finland. These individuals are typically those who have moved abroad, moved to a different country within the European Economic Area, or have died.

The Population Information System (PIR) is Finland's centralized population data system, which is administered by the Digital and Population Data Agency. The PIR is divided into two parts: the nummari (register of residents) and the Apurekisteri (register of non-residents). The Apurekisteri contains information on individuals who are no longer considered residents in Finland, having removed themselves from the nummari register.

The data in the Apurekisteri is collected from various sources, including the Finnish Tax Administration, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, and municipal authorities. The register is used for statistical purposes as well as to provide information on Finnish citizens living abroad to Finnish diplomatic missions and other organizations.

Access to the information in the Apurekisteri is subject to the Finnish Data Protection Act, which regulates the handling of personal data. The data is protected from unauthorized access, and disclosure to third parties requires permission from the data subject or compliance with relevant legislation. The register is used in conjunction with the nummari register for a variety of purposes, including tax administration, healthcare services, and social services.
