Anuanuraro

Anuanuraro is an atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago, French Polynesia. It is located in the western part of the archipelago, approximately 130 kilometers (81 miles) southwest of the island of Fakarava and 600 kilometers (373 miles) east of Tahiti. The atoll is roughly oval-shaped, with a length of about 7.5 kilometers (4.7 miles) and a width of 4 kilometers (2.5 miles). Its lagoon is shallow and can be difficult to navigate.

The atoll has a small population, with residents primarily engaged in pearl farming and fishing. There are a few small villages on Anuanuraro, the main one being on the western side of the atoll. Access to Anuanuraro is typically by boat, as there is no airport. The nearest significant inhabited island is Fakarava, which serves as a regional center. Anuanuraro is also known for its rich marine life, attracting divers and nature enthusiasts. The atoll's remote location contributes to its pristine environment. The name "Anuanuraro" is of Polynesian origin. Like many atolls in the Tuamotus, it was likely inhabited by Polynesians for centuries before European contact.
