Antigu

Antigu is a small, mountainous island nation located in the Caribbean Sea. It is situated between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, to the east of Puerto Rico and the north of Guadeloupe. The country comprises two main islands, Antigua and Barbuda, along with a number of smaller islets. The capital city is Saint John's, located on Antigua.

The terrain of Antigu is characterized by a coastline featuring numerous bays, natural harbors, and coral reefs. Antigua is predominantly flat and dry, with its highest point being Mount Obama at 402 meters. Barbuda, to the north, is also largely flat, with extensive sandy beaches and extensive coral reefs, including the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, a significant breeding ground for the Magnificent Frigatebird.

The climate in Antigu is tropical, with warm temperatures year-round and two distinct seasons: a dry season from January to April and a wet season from May to November. The islands are vulnerable to hurricanes during the hurricane season. The economy is heavily reliant on tourism, with its pristine beaches and historical sites attracting a significant number of visitors. Other economic activities include financial services and a small agricultural sector.

Historically, the islands were inhabited by indigenous peoples before being colonized by Europeans. Antigua was settled by the British in the 17th century, and Barbuda was later added to its administration. Antigu gained independence from the United Kingdom on November 1, 1981. The population is primarily of African descent, with a mix of other ethnic groups. English is the official language, and the currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar.
