Antialérgico

Antialérgico is a term used to describe a substance or treatment that counteracts or prevents allergic reactions. Allergic reactions occur when the immune system mistakenly identifies a harmless substance, known as an allergen, as a threat and mounts an exaggerated response. Antiallergics work by interfering with this process.

The most common type of antiallergic medication is an antihistamine. Antihistamines block the action of histamine, a chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction. While antiallergics are effective in managing allergy symptoms, they do not cure the underlying allergy. Avoiding known allergens is a crucial part of allergy management. Some antiallergics can cause side effects, such as drowsiness or dry mouth, and it is important to consult with a healthcare professional for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
