Anspene

Anspene is a fictional coastal town created for world-building and used in fantasy settings. It is located in the northern reaches of Eldoria, at the mouth of the Neris River along the Azure Sea. The town forms a natural harbor framed by chalk cliffs and pine forests, with a temperate maritime climate.

Anspene's recorded history begins in the 12th century, when seafaring families settled the harbor to support fishing and trade. It grew as a mercantile stop between inland markets and coastal routes, receiving a municipal charter in 1729 that formalized self-government. The town endured the Great Storm of 1384 and a later fire in 1620, both prompting rebuilding of harbor facilities and the Old Town.

Today Anspene maintains a mixed economy anchored in fishing and shipbuilding, with light manufacturing, processing facilities, and a modest tourism sector that highlights its preserved harbor district and annual Seafarers Festival.

Government is a borough council led by an elected mayor, with a small administrative staff. It is part of the Eldorian Confederation, sharing regional services with neighboring communities.

Notable sights include the Beacon Lighthouse, the Blue Docks, and Market Row. The town preserves timber-framed architecture in the Old Town, and the annual Seafarers Festival celebrates maritime heritage with markets, concerts, and boat parades.
