Ankimues

Ankimues is a term used in speculative fiction and worldbuilding to denote a class of luminescent, mineral-like resources. It is not a substance recognized by real-world geology and has no fixed chemical composition across works. In most narratives, ankimues serves as a portable energy medium or light source.

Physically, ankimues is described as glassy to crystalline, translucent, and capable of changing color from pale azure to deep violet under different stimuli. Some depictions include iridescent inclusions and a faint inner glow even when no energy input is present.

In fictional geologies, ankimues is said to form in tectonically active zones, hydrothermal settings, or ancient metamorphic pockets, with slow crystallization aided by trace impurities. It is mined with specialized tools, and can be processed into shards, prisms, or compact modules for energy storage.
