Angiorressonância

Angiorressonância, also known as MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiography), is a non-invasive medical imaging technique used to visualize blood vessels. It combines the principles of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with specialized techniques to produce detailed images of arteries and veins throughout the body. This allows for the assessment of blood flow and the detection of abnormalities within the vascular system.

The procedure utilizes strong magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed cross-sectional images. Unlike conventional angiography, which involves injecting contrast dye directly into blood vessels and may require a catheter, MRA typically uses intravenous contrast agents or relies on the intrinsic magnetic properties of flowing blood to create contrast. This makes it a safer option for many patients, especially those with kidney issues or allergies to iodine-based contrast agents used in CT angiography.

Angiorressonância is employed for a variety of diagnostic purposes. It is invaluable in identifying and evaluating conditions such as aneurysms, dissections, stenoses (narrowing of blood vessels), occlusions (blockages), and vascular malformations. It can be used to examine vessels in the brain, neck, chest, abdomen, and extremities. The information gathered from MRA helps clinicians plan treatments, monitor disease progression, and assess the effectiveness of interventions. The specific type of MRA sequence used depends on the area of the body being examined and the clinical question being addressed.
