Anduin

Anduin may refer to several uses in fantasy and geography. In popular culture, two uses are particularly prominent. Anduin Wrynn is a fictional character in Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft universe. He is the prince of the human kingdom of Stormwind, the son of King Varian Wrynn, and a member of the Alliance. Across multiple games and narratives, Anduin is depicted as a capable and reform-minded ruler who grows from a child prince into king. His arc emphasizes diplomacy, leadership in war, and balancing political stability with the needs of his people. He ascends to the throne after Varian’s death, and remains a central figure in later Warcraft storylines and expansions.

In J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium, Anduin is the Great River of western Middle-earth. It runs from the Misty Mountains toward the western sea, serving as a major geographic feature through which numerous journeys and events unfold. The Fellowship of the Ring travels down the Anduin after leaving Lothlórien, proceeding toward Parth Galen and the Falls of Rauros before continuing their quest. The river is referenced in various histories and maps as a lifeline for the realms it touches and a symbol of change and passage in Tolkien’s narrative.
