Aluminiumfällningsmedel

Aluminiumfällningsmedel, commonly referred to as aluminum coagulants, are chemical substances used primarily in water treatment to remove suspended impurities. These compounds, typically based on aluminum sulfate (alum) or polyaluminum chloride (PAC), work by neutralizing the negative electrical charges present on the surface of small particles like silt, clay, and organic matter. When the charges are neutralized, these particles can no longer repel each other and begin to aggregate, forming larger, visible clumps called flocs.

The process, known as coagulation, is a crucial step in clarifying water. The added aluminum compound dissociates in water, releasing positively charged aluminum ions. These ions attract the negatively charged suspended particles, bridging them together. As the flocs grow, they become heavy enough to settle out of the water through sedimentation or can be more easily removed by filtration. Aluminiumfällningsmedel are effective over a range of pH conditions, although their optimal performance is often pH-dependent. The choice between different aluminum-based coagulants depends on factors such as water quality, desired treatment efficiency, and cost. They are widely used in municipal water purification plants and industrial wastewater treatment to produce cleaner water.
