Alpineadjacent is an adjective used in geography and ecology to describe landscapes, ecosystems, or processes located directly adjacent to alpine environments. The term typically refers to the transitional zone between subalpine or montane regions and the true alpine zone, where climatic and ecological gradients shift from relatively sheltered, forested conditions to the harsher, windier, and rocky conditions of higher elevations.

Ecologically, alpineadjacent areas host edge communities that bridge montane and alpine ecosystems. They often experience shorter growing seasons, higher solar radiation, strong winds, and rocky or shallow soils. Vegetation can include a mix of subalpine species such as certain firs and pines alongside alpine-tolerant grasses, forbs, and shrubs at the margin. Faunal use of these zones frequently involves species that exploit the transition between forested and open alpine habitats, such as pikas, marmots, and certain ungulates.

Geographically the concept is sensitive to latitude and local topography, with precise elevation ranges varying by region. In research and conservation planning, alpineadjacent areas are noted for their role in ecological connectivity and vulnerability to climate change, as shifts in the alpine boundary can alter habitat availability and species distributions.
