Aloysius is a masculine given name of Latin origin, commonly encountered in Catholic and European naming traditions. The form is a Latinization of Aloisius, and the exact linguistic path from its Germanic roots is not universally agreed, but the name has long been associated with Latin and liturgical usage.

The most prominent bearer of the name is Saint Aloysius Gonzaga (1568–1591), a Jesuit novice and patron saint of youth and students. Gonzaga is remembered for his piety, dedication to the sick and dying, and his early death at age 23 while caring for plague victims in Rome.
