Allhelgons is a term used in some Nordic and Central European contexts to refer to All Saints' Day, a Christian festival commemorating all saints and the faithful departed. The name derives from the idea of honoring “all holy ones” and has roots in early Christian practice of venerating the saints collectively. In Swedish usage, Alla helgons dag is the standard name for the holiday; in Sweden it is celebrated on the Saturday between October 31 and November 6, a scheduling choice established in the 20th century civil calendar reforms.
