Alkuperämäärä

Alkuperämäärä, meaning "original quantity" or "initial amount" in Finnish, is a concept primarily used in mathematics and physics. It refers to the value of a variable or quantity at the beginning of a process, calculation, or observation. This initial state is crucial for understanding how a system evolves over time or under the influence of certain forces.

In calculus, for instance, an initial condition (alkuperämäärä) is often specified for differential equations. This initial condition, such as the starting position or velocity of an object, allows for a unique solution to be determined.
