Alkoholbasis
Alkoholbasis refers to the fundamental component or primary ingredient in alcoholic beverages. It is the substance from which alcohol, primarily ethanol, is derived or is the liquid carrier for the alcohol content. In the context of distillation, the alkoholbasis is the fermented mash or wash. This initial fermented mixture, containing ethanol and various byproducts, is then subjected to distillation to concentrate the alcohol. Examples of alkoholbasis in this regard include fermented grains for whiskey, fermented grapes for brandy, or fermented agave for tequila.
Alternatively, alkoholbasis can refer to the base liquid in spirituous liquors that has already undergone fermentation
