Alfaspårdetektorer
Alfaspårdetektorer, also known as alpha track detectors or CR-39 detectors, are passive devices used to detect alpha particles. They are made from a transparent plastic material, most commonly polyallyl diglycol carbonate (CR-39). When an alpha particle passes through the detector material, it creates a latent damage track. This track is invisible to the naked eye but can be revealed and observed by etching the plastic with a chemical solution, typically a hot concentrated alkali. The etching process enlarges the damage tracks, making them visible under a microscope.
