Alfadiversiteetti refers to the diversity of alpha diversity values within a given ecological context. Alpha diversity itself measures the diversity of species within a single habitat or community. Therefore, alfadiversiteetti quantifies how much this local species richness or diversity varies across different patches, sites, or time points within a larger region or study. For example, if one were studying a forest ecosystem, alpha diversity might be measured in several distinct forest stands. Alfadiversiteetti would then represent the variation in the alpha diversity scores obtained from these individual stands. High alfadiversiteetti would indicate that some stands are much more diverse than others, while low alfadiversiteetti would suggest that the local species diversity is relatively consistent throughout the area.
