Alevra

Alevra is a coastal city-state set in the fictional archipelago of Lythia. It is commonly described as a literary hub of trade, learning, and cultural exchange, with a historic harbor and a compact city core.

Located on a protected bay along the central coastline, Alevra's harbor is surrounded by terraced neighborhoods and a modern commercial district. The surrounding landscape includes low hills and marshy wetlands. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild, wet winters and dry, warm summers.

History: Settlement evidence dates to the 9th century, and Alevra rose as a regional trading post linking inland caravans with maritime routes. In the late medieval era it joined regional leagues and, after centuries of autonomous governance, moved toward a constitutional city under a municipal council in the 19th century.

Administration: It is governed by a city council elected by residents and an independently elected mayor. It serves as the capital of the Alevran Confederation's coast district and houses several regional offices.

Economy and culture: The economy centers on maritime services, fishing, small-scale manufacturing, and tourism. The harbor district hosts markets, shipyards, and cultural venues, including Alevra University and museums focused on seafaring history. Annual festivals celebrate the sea, crafts, and local music.

Demographics and education: The population is diverse, with communities speaking several languages. The university attracts students from across Lythia.
