Alaptörvényalapú

Alaptörvényalapú is a Hungarian adjective that describes something grounded in the Alaptörvény, the Fundamental Law of Hungary. It denotes that the legal or normative basis for a decision, policy, institution, or interpretation rests on the provisions of the Fundamental Law rather than on ordinary statutes or executive acts.

In political science and public discourse, the term is used to characterize measures or arrangements that are justified by constitutional text, including the protection of fundamental rights, the allocation of powers, or procedures defined in the Fundamental Law. It signals an emphasis on constitutional legitimacy and alignment with the core framework of the legal order.

The Alaptörvény, which entered into force in 2012 after being adopted in 2011, outlines fundamental rights, the distribution of state powers, and the processes for constitutional amendments. Accordingly, so-called alaptörvényalapú measures are those intended to comply with or derive their authority from the Fundamental Law, and they are often evaluated for their compatibility with constitutional norms during interpretation or application of laws.
