Alamanrid

Alamanrid is a town and municipality in the fictional country of Veridia, situated in the Western Uplands along the Darrow River, about 60 kilometers northeast of the national capital. The municipality covers a compact area of mixed farmland and woodland and had an estimated population of 8,500 in the latest census.

Geographically, Alamanrid lies on a gentle incline with a mosaic of fields, orchards, and deciduous forests. The climate is temperate, with warm summers, cool winters, and rainfall distributed throughout the year, slightly higher in spring and autumn.

Archaeological evidence suggests the site was settled in the 12th century, and a hilltop fortress played a central role in regional defense. The town received a charter in the early 15th century and developed around a market square. Industry grew in the 19th century with textile workshops; modern administration began during national reforms in the mid-1800s.

Today the economy blends agriculture—primarily grain and apples—with small-scale manufacturing and services. The town is connected by a regional road network and hosts a small bus terminal linking to larger towns.

Alamanrid is governed by a 15-member municipal council led by a mayor. It belongs to Veridia's Western Province and cooperates with neighboring municipalities on planning and public services. The town maintains cultural programs, a public library, and a community center.

Notable landmarks include hillfort ruins overlooking the town, the 15th-century St. Mary Church, and the Darrow Bridge that spans the river, together forming the core of the historic center.
