AlMamlakah

AlMamlakah is the Arabic term meaning “the kingdom.” The word mamlaka (مملكة) is a feminine noun derived from the root M-L-K, related to sovereignty and rule. With the definite article al-, al-mamlaka means “the kingdom” and is used both as a generic label for monarchies and as part of the formal names of monarchic states in the Arab world.

In official usage, al-mamlaka appears as part of long state titles. Examples include Al-Mamlakat al-‘Arabiyya as-Sa‘ūdiyya, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Al-Mamlakat al-Urduniyya al-Haashimiyya, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Al-Mamlakat al-Maghhribiya, the Kingdom of Morocco; and Al-Mamlakat al-Bahrayn, the Kingdom of Bahrain. These forms show how the generic term is embedded in country names to designate a constitutional or reigning monarchy.

Transliteration and spelling vary in English, with forms such as Al-Mamlaka or Al-Mamlakah common alongside Al-Mamlakat when rendering official Arabic titles. The term is widely used in Arabic-language contexts to refer to both individual kingdoms and the concept of a kingdom in general, and it appears in various official names across the Arab world.
