AlAraf

Al-A'raf, often transliterated as Al-Araf or al-A'raaf, is an Arabic term meaning The Heights or The Elevations. In Islamic thought it denotes a feature of the afterlife and, in Qur’anic usage, a barrier or elevated place between Paradise and Hell.

The term is also the title of Surah 7 of the Quran, known as al-A'raf (The Heights).

Scholars of Tafsir have offered multiple readings. Some view al-A'raf as a literal, physical barrier or balcony-like

Beyond its Qur’anic usage, al-A'raf is referenced in Islamic eschatology as part of discussions of the Day
