Al-Albani was a renowned Islamic scholar, hafiz (holder of the Quran in memory), and muhaddith (scholar of Hadith) who played a significant role in the modern field of Hadith criticism. His full name was Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albani, and he was born on October 29, 1914, in Ashkodera, a village near the city of Ioannina, in the Ottoman Empire, which is now part of Greece.

Al-Albani spent many years in Damascus, Syria, where he established a reputation as a Hadith expert. He traveled extensively throughout his life, visiting various countries, including Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, and Morocco, to study with leading scholars of the day. He became a respected authority on Hadith, issuing recommendations on the authenticity and credibility of various Hadith texts.

In 1954, Al-Albani moved to Cairo, Egypt, where he began to issue his famous collection of Hadith, "Silsila Saheeha." The series, which aimed to verify the authenticity of Hadith, became highly influential and is still widely respected in the Muslim world today. He returned to Damascus in 1977, and from there, he traveled extensively, spreading his knowledge of Hadith through lectures and writings.

Throughout his life, al-Albani wrote numerous books on Hadith and its application in Islamic thought. His writings were characterized by a strong emphasis on critical thinking and the importance of verifying the chain of narration in Hadith before accepting it as authentic. Al-Albani passed away on October 2, 1999, in Amman, Jordan, leaving behind a legacy that continues to shape Hadith studies in the modern era. His scholarly contributions remain significant to this day, and his work continues to influence Islamic scholarship globally.
