Akrüülplekk
Akrüülplekk, also known as acrylic sheeting or acrylic glass, is a transparent thermoplastic often used as a lightweight, shatter-resistant alternative to glass. It is chemically known as poly(methyl methacrylate) or PMMA. Akrüülplekk is manufactured through polymerization of methyl methacrylate monomer. Its key properties include high optical clarity, excellent weather resistance, and a glossy surface. It is also significantly lighter than glass, making it easier to handle and install.
The material is known for its impact resistance, though it is more prone to scratching than glass.
Common uses for akrüülplekk include windows and skylights, display cases, signage, furniture, aquariums, and protective barriers.
