Akimiski

Akimiski is an island located in James Bay, Canada. It is the largest island in James Bay and is situated south of the Ontario mainland and west of Quebec. The island is part of the territory of Nunavut. Akimiski is relatively flat and low-lying, characterized by muskeg, peatlands, and sparse vegetation. Its coastline is marshy, with numerous bays and inlets.

The island is uninhabited on a permanent basis, although it is utilized by Indigenous communities, primarily Cree, for hunting, fishing, and trapping.
